Parent
Teacher Association 2009-2010
PTA Meetings |
The PTA meets once each month in the District meeting room at Sundling Junior High to coordinate activities
to support Sundling. The executive officers give information
about the school, the district, and the Board of Education.
A teacher comes to represent the staff and the principal
or assistant principal attends to support excellent communication
between school and parents. Committees with upcoming activities
report on their status.
This is THE way to be in-the-know about what goes on at
Sundling Junior High. By staying informed and supporting
the school, our children's educational and social experience
will be
the best it can be!

What is the PTA? |
PTA is a private, not-for-profit service organization.
The National PTA, of which all local units are members, is
the largest volunteer organization advocating on the behalf
of children. The organization was founded in 1897 in Washington
DC as the National Congress of Mothers by Alice McLellan
Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst. PTA's mission is:
~To promote the welfare of children and youth in home,
school, community, and place of worship;
~To raise the standards of home life;
~To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and
youth;
~To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents
and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children
and youth;
~To develop between educators and the general public such united effort
as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical,
mental, social, and spiritual education.
