First Day of School
Make sure you know your homeroom section number!
On the first day students
should bring:
On the first day of school students will go to
their homeroom for the first part of the day. The section number of their homeroom is listed in the upper left hand corner of
the student schedules. 7th graders begin with the number 7, 8th
graders
with
the number 8.
The Homeroom Directory page was sent home in the August mailing and lists the section numbers, the room numbers, and the
homeroom teachers. Find the room number on the map sent home in the
packet.
The first day will differ from those in the past. Students will not be going through their daily schedule and will not need to bring their supplies.
Students will get a thorough introduction to junior high by meeting EVERY staff member including office staff, janitors, and bus drivers. Sundling's "rules of the road," PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support), will be explained to the kids. The day will end with an assembly and the hope that students have a solid understanding of the school and the academic and behavioral expectations for the year.
At some point in the day homeroom
teachers will
give students their locker numbers and combinations, lunch PIN numbers,
and other pertinent information. The kids will have lots of time to practice opening their lockers!
Students' homeroom teacher may not be one of their regular classroom
teachers. Students do not go to homeroom daily. Homeroom is only
used about four times a year to disseminate information or pass
out report cards.
In the past students purchased assignment notebooks on the first day of school. This year students will be given assignment notebooks.
