Directions to "away" meets

The Paladin Cross Country team are once again under construction for another championship season. Our Sundling cross country program is the pride of the district and one of the strongest programs in the area. We also boast one of the largest teams in the area. Over 100 our Sundling students regularly participate on this team.

Our coaches this year will continually strive for our most important goal, having fun while running. Runners develop individual goals for improvement, learn team running skills, and learn that distance running is not difficult when you are talking to your friends and laughing all the way.

Normally our team will participate in eight dual meets against other teams and four invites against multiple teams. The final meet is the Ed Kuhrt District 15 Invite. Ed Kuhrt, now retired, was a Sundling cross country coach for over 30 years and started the District 15 cross country program. It is not surprising that Sundling has such a rich history of excellence in the sport of cross country. Finally, we have Friday Fun Runs, the "I Scream for Ice Cream" Run, and our team favorite, the Annual Deer Grove Mud Run.

Cross country is a no-cut sport made up runners of all ability levels. Whether you are a serious runner or you have never tried the sport, all are welcome.

First practice will be Monday August 31st from 2:30-4:00pm. An activity bus will be available after practice. Unlike many schools, Sundling cross county practices everyday, Monday through Friday, rain or shine (rain is more fun than shine).

Most of our meets will be on Tuesdays or Thursdays, and depending on how far away the meet is, we will usually be done between 5:30-6:00pm.

So if you are saying to yourself, "I don’t like running," you have never run like we do in Sundling cross country. Give it a chance and you will find that you want to be a part of the winning tradition, the team tradition, the muddy, sloppy, have fun tradition we call Sundling Cross Country.
